to our Site! Thanks for checking us out! No matter what reason you have come here, it is our hope that you will sense something different about First Church. We believe that God has placed us here in Portage to be a blessing to this community and the ones around it. It is our belief that communities should want churches around because they help make communities better, stronger, healthier and more compassionate.
Unfortunately, this has not always been the case for churches and communities. That is something we want to see change. Here at Kalamazoo First it is our belief that God wants us to be people who are:
Loving- We are called to love God with all of who we are and yet Jesus reminded us that one of the ways that we can show our love for God is to show love and compassion to those around us in our communities.
Learning- We believe that we don’t know everything (can you believe that) so we need to explore. God invites us to do this. We can get to know who He is by studying Jesus and engaging our community to find out how we can serve them best.
Living- We believe that Jesus invites us to really live. We also believe that He gave us an example of how to live. Jesus lived his life as someone who served. We can do no less for him and for those around us.
